MISSING HUNTER'S BODY FOUND NEAR MT ABRAHAM
The body of Robert ALLIN Folinsbee was found near Mount Abraham at 8:50 a.m., 5 November 2013. Allin was a keen hunter, and in this case was called by a friend to help him find the big horn sheep that had been shot.
The 69-year-old Calgary-area hunter was found dead after he became lost during the weekend s snowstorm.
Allin, of Springbank, went hunting with a friend Saturday near Mount Abraham, about 20 km west of Rocky Mountain House, RCMP reported. The men had equipment and experience to handle rough terrain. They became separated in the snowstorm, but stayed in radio contact for about 24 hours. While one of the hunters made it to safety, the other did not. Folinsbee decided to wait out the extreme snowstorm. When radio contact was lost on Monday, 4 November, and the friends exhausted their search, Rocky Mountain RCMP, Search and Rescue and Air Services were called in to help. Allin Folinsbee s body was found at 8:50 Tuesday Morning.
Folinsbee was born in Calgary in 1944, took has BSC in Geophysics at the U. Of Alberta, and went on to MIT to take his PhD.
