The Night Vision Monocular, ORT- 5159,is a modular, self- contained, night- vision system.
It may be worn on the head, on a helmet, or used as a hand- held viewer.
The monocular system is composed of a monocular assembly, a face- mask assembly , and a carrying case.
It provides improved night- vision capabilities using available light from the night sky.
(Cloudy starlight to bright moon light).
CAPABILITIES:
The monocular may be used with or without the standard battle- helmet.
It provides capabilities for reading' performing manual tasks, patrolling, medical aid, construction work, mobile equipment operation, walking and surveillance.
The monocular can be used in cloudy starlight to bright moonlight.
It can be detached quickly from the face-mask or the ballistic helmet mount.
When detached from the face mask or the ballistic helmet mount, it can be used as a hand- held viewer.
In extreme darkness, the monocular has an IR illuminator feature that improves viewing ? 2 meters.
